We are Alberta’s seniors — farmers, tradespeople, teachers, nurses, business owners, and community leaders, many of whom built this province with our hands and our hearts. We are the generation that watched Alberta grow from a young province into one of the most productive economies on Earth. We have paid our taxes, raised our families, and contributed to this nation for decades.
Today, seniors aged 65 and older make up 16% of Alberta’s total population — up from just 12% a decade ago. There are currently approximately 741,000 seniors in Alberta, and that number is rising fast. By 2051, one in five Albertans will be a senior.
We are not a fringe group. We are your neighbours, your parents, your grandparents. We vote, we volunteer, and we speak from lived experience. And we are saying, clearly and firmly: enough is enough. We believe that the province we built deserves better than what Confederation currently offers. We are not driven by anger — we are driven by love for Alberta and the legacy we wish to leave our children and grandchildren.
